The JULY 2016 TCWG Creative Writing Competition: Where to find the stories and how to vote

All tcwg site members (and any other interested parties) are invited to read and enjoy the stories entered in the JULY 2016 TCWG creative writing competition.
If, having read all the stories, you would like to register your vote for the winner and placings, then the instructions below will tell you how to go about it, This is not obligatory, but if you choose to join in your participation will be very much appreciated.
The deadline for entries into the July 2016 Creative Writing Competition passed at Midnight on the 31st.July.

The teething problems of our new posting arrangements, not helped by the fact that the introductory period has coincided with the holiday period of the year, has temporarily reduced the number of entries to 9 this month … but Rome was not built in a day,. or so we have been told, so things can only get better.
The topic for the stories was set by the winner of the April 2016 competition, Peter Barnett who commented as follows …

“My theme for July has been influenced by listening to the play Boswell’s Life of Pinter on Radio Four, which, rather than being seen as a time traveller, Boswell was displaced in time with a characterised Boswell meeting a characterised Pinter, An mp3 of the recorded BBC programme may be downloaded here …
The chosen theme is a characterisation of time displacement, forward, backward or both: Romance, science fiction, any genre, any time period(s) and any format you like.
What do you think would happen if your character or characters (which could include yourself) are displaced in time by years or even just seconds, minutes, perhaps?
Would they remember or not be aware of the time displacement?
Maybe like Boswell’s characterisation they are simply shifted out of their own time and into another one. Or maybe they can switch between time zones, either willingly or not.
The story does not necessarily have to include the present time.”

Thank you to the 9 writers who have entered a story, and thanks are due in advance to all those group members who I hope will now support the competition by reading the stories and registering their vote in the form of a comment below on this post.

As in previous months, when voting it would help if voters would make sure to quote the name of the story when posting their vote.
Voting can now commence and will continue until 11 p.m. on Wednesday the 10th.of August 2016.
There are no restrictions as to who is allowed to vote, all that is asked is that the voter reads all the stories and votes according to their preference. A brief reason for the choice is welcome but not mandatory.
Voters are requested to vote 5 points for first place, 3 points for second, and 1 point for third place.
Please do not submit any other point combinations such as 3/3/3, 4/4/1, 5/2/2, etc.
Writers are requested not to vote for any of their own entries, and voters are asked not to comment at length about the stories or record any thoughts that you may have on them, until after voting closes.

There will be no detailed summaries posted as to how the voting is progressing throughout the voting period but as soon as possible after voting closes a tabulated list of results will be posted separately and the winner declared. If then you wish to describe in detail the reasons for your choices, or comment at length about some or all of the individual stories, a separate page will be set up at the end of the voting period and after the result has been posted.

  1. Fiendish topic last month and fiendishly difficult to select the first three … I suppose that makes for some kind of symmetry.
But there could easily have been at least a couple of others instead, so here goes.

5 Points … DEMERARA SUGAR. Written by Peter Barnett.
3 Points … I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU. Written by Colmore.
1 Point … WHAT THEN IS TIME? Written by Araminta.

Well done everyone, a good selection of stories.

    Liked by 2 people

  2. Hello everyone.
Guess it’s that time again. Here are my picks.

5- Atiller – Through the Wormhole
3-Araminta – What Then is Time?

  3. “Well done!” to all who managed to enter the July competition, you should be congratulated for getting to grips with what I thought was such a difficult topic.
Unfortunately I have to give points to just three of you.
    5 points: Seadams. “Beathag”
3 points: Atiller. “Through The Wormhole”
1 point: Araminta. “What Then Is Time?”
