The topic for July has been set by the winner of the April 2016 competition Peter Barnett who has commented as follows …

“My theme for July has been influenced by listening to the play Boswell’s Life of Pinter on Radio Four, which, rather than being seen as a time traveller, Boswell was displaced in time with a characterised Boswell meeting a characterised Pinter, An mp3 of the recorded BBC programme may be downloaded here …
The chosen theme is a characterisation of time displacement, forward, backward or both: Romance, science fiction, any genre, any time period(s) and any format you like.
What do you think would happen if your character or characters (which could include yourself) are displaced in time by years or even just seconds, minutes, perhaps?
Would they remember or not be aware of the time displacement?
Maybe like Boswell’s characterisation they are simply shifted out of their own time and into another one. Or maybe they can switch between time zones, either willingly or not.
The story does not necessarily have to include the present time.

Note to Atiller – It will not be sufficient simply to plagiarise  “The Time Machine”, and I have hidden the video of “Groundhog Day”.

The length of the story should be the regular “between 500 and 3000 words”, and competitors are reminded that multiple entries can be accepted, particularly of the shorter variety.

Closing date for entries will be Midnight on Sunday the 31st of July 2016.
The period for receiving votes will be announced when the competition closes, and votes will not be accepted until after the competition closes.
The “prize” for winning this July competition will be to set the topic for September 2016.

Set up your stories on your personal WordPress Blog site and post a link to your story in the form of a comment below.
The competition is open to anyone with an interest  in short story writing.
After the competition closes there will be a vote to decide the first three places.
Just after the closing date, details of how to vote and a vote collection point will be set up here on the Competition page.
A list of  detailed rules for  the competition can be found here …
