A FREE ENTRY WRITING COMPETITION OPEN TO ALL!

Details of the March 2017 Creative Writing Competition.

MARCH IS TO BE AN OPEN MONTH THAT WILL ALLOW CONTRIBUTORS TO WRITE ABOUT ANY THING OR PERSON (OR COLLECTION THEREOF) THAT TAKES THEIR FANCY. BUT PLEASE LET IT NOT BE TRUMP OR BREXIT.:)

The length of the story in March will be “between 500 and 2000 words”, and competitors are reminded that multiple entries can be accepted, particularly of the shorter variety.
The closing date for entries will be Midnight on Friday the 31st of March 2017.
The period for receiving votes will be announced when the competition closes, and votes will not be accepted until after the competition closes.
There will be no “prize” for winning this March competition other than to win the admiration of the entire creative writing group. However, if and when Volume 5 of the tcwg Annual collection of Short Stories appears (now in compilation), this month’s winner could well receive a free complimentary copy.

Voting.

After the competition closes there will be a vote to decide the first three places.
Just after the closing date, a vote collection point with details of how to vote will be set up here in this competition section.

  1. As usual there are more words scattered around the floor than there are in the entry, so nothing changes. Perhaps I’ll gather them up and see if I can make any sense of them for another entry.
I’ve tried desperately to do something a bit different this month, but it’s not different that I need, it’s something better.
    Ah well!

    1. Welcome Christopher.
Please don’t worry about causing any emotional or psychological damage, most of us in the group are already damaged beyond recall.

p.s. Our patron Saint is St. Vitus, but none of us take it too seriously. 🙂

    2. Welcome, Christopher! Over here in Ireland a Dublin woman has just been awarded €20,000 in damages against a restaurant where she bumped her knee against the leg of a table. Once the lawyers have exhausted other possibilities, I’m sure that lawsuits against writers could become a lucrative earner for them. However, don’t worry, you are safe for the moment, as there are about 140,000 false convictions for failed breathalyser tests to sort out, which will clog up the legal system for a while. It’s all good fun.
      🙂

      1. Well, if lawyers are making money it can’t be all bad. There are some very good lawyers. I’m sure they deserve every penny and Bentley they have. Perhaps if things start hotting up for us we can always re-arrange tables and chairs in Irish restaurants in the most inconvenient manner.
