Contrary to the fake news posted on facebook by a certain Francis Clack, the topic for April 2019 has been set by ExpatAngie (courtesy of a generous gesture by Capucin to pass the baton to Angie this month).
Angie has chosen for her subject “Quality over Quantity”.
This has been interpreted by me to mean  ” Any story where the merits of quality relative to quantity are explored or exposed, whether (for instance) in respect to goods, relationships, or natural phenomenon.”

The length of entries in April will be “between 500 and 3000 words” and competitors are reminded that multiple entries can be accepted, particularly of the shorter variety.

The closing time and date for entries will be Midnight on Tuesday the 30th of April 2019.
The period for receiving votes will be announced on or around the 28th of April and votes will not be accepted until after the competition officially closes.
The “prize” for winning this April competition will be to set the topic for June 2019 and I am suggesting that this might be a ‘shorter story’ month with a word restriction of between 250 and 1000 words.

Voting. After the competition closes there will be a vote to decide the first three places and just after the closing date, details of how to vote, and a vote collection point will be set up here in this competition section.

How to enter. Post your story on your personal WordPress blogs and post a link to your story in the form of a comment below (“Leave a reply” panel.)

For those unfamiliar with the workings of the monthly competition a list of detailed rules for the competition can be found here …

Pleasant writing everyone, and good luck.

  1. Apologies in advance but I may not be able to submit a story for April. Started one but it’s ground to a halt and I’ve been busy and partly laid low with a flu bug. Now feeling rather tired of an evening. Inspiration all gone.
Plus son now getting married next Spring and thinking of Tuscany. Planning to go to Tuscany next month and got to research venues. So May could be tricky – wish I could retire and devote time to writing.
