A FREE ENTRY WRITING COMPETITION OPEN TO ALL!

Details of the JANUARY 2017 Creative Writing Competition.

The topic for January has been set by the winner of the November 2016 competition ‘Lostinwords’ who has chosen as a topic ‘subject  ‘THE NIGHT NURSE’

‘Lost’ commented as follows …

Your topic for January is ‘The Night Nurse’. Good nurse or bad nurse? Angel or devil? Maybe simply what goes through the nurse’s head in those dark hours. Should be something there for you.

<><><><><><><><>

The length of the story in January  will be the regular “between 500 and 3000 words”, and competitors are reminded that multiple entries can be accepted, particularly of the shorter variety.
The closing date for entries will be Midnight on Tuesday the 31st of January 2017.
The period for receiving votes will be announced when the competition closes, and votes will not be accepted until after the competition closes.
The “prize” for winning this January competition will be to set the topic for April 2017, as unless there are objections I am suggesting that March should be an entirely ‘open’ month with any length of story (up to 2000 words) and on any subject as long as it doesn’t spook the horses.

Voting.
After the competition closes there will be a vote to decide the first three places.
Just after the closing date, details of how to vote, and a vote collection point will be set up here in this competition section.

How to enter.
Post your story on your personal WordPress blogs and post a link to your story in the form of a comment below (“Leave a reply” panel.)

For those unfamiliar with the workings of the monthly competition a list of detailed rules for the competition can be found here …

  1. Oh dear, it looks like my topic has caused some angst and difficulty in the ranks. Even I’ve drawn a blank! I had a few ideas – like creepy Nurse Mike in the children’s ward – but I haven’t had the time to develop anything. At least it’s got Fizz to pick up her quill again, so that’s no bad thing (Good to have you back, Fizzee one!). I’m looking forward to reading all your efforts. Pip Pip.

    1. Hi Lost,

I really don’t think it was your topic but I’ve failed miserably too! I’ve had three attempts at different scenarios and run out of steam with all of them. I have now run out of time. 😦

So my apologies for not producing a story this month.

    1. Thank you seadams, the link works fine.
In this house, for ‘keen’ read ‘frustrated’.
He who’s name must not be mentioned has conjured up every curse and oath imaginable (and a few that he has invented for himself), yet still requires a gross of words in order to reach even the minimum 500 limit.
